Congrats to Dr. Leslie Johnson on her recent accomplishments!
In addition to being a member of the iHEART-SA team, Dr. Leslie Johnson is an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine in the USA. She is also affiliated with the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center. Dr. Johnson has a Master’s in Public Health and a PhD in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University.
Dr. Leslie Johnson was selected to participate in the 2021 Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) Implementation Science Training School hosted virtually from 11/29-12/10. This competitive program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for early- and mid-career researchers to build their knowledge, skills, and confidence in the fields of implementation science and non-communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Leslie Johnson also presented a poster entitled, “Applying the behavior change wheel to facilitate integration of hypertension care into HIV clinics in South Africa” on behalf of the iHEART-SA team at the 14th Annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation in Health held virtually December 14-16, 2021. This abstract presented research conducted as a part of the formative phase of the iHEART-SA study. Dr. Johnson also chaired a session “Strategies for Implementing mental health evidence-based practices in diverse settings.”
